Do not let grace and truth leave you –
Bind them around your neck
Write them on the tablet of your heart
Then you will win favour and esteem
In the sight of God and of people.
Trust in Adonai with all your heart
Do not rely on your own understanding
In all your ways acknowledge him
Then he will level your paths.
Don’t be conceited about your own wisdom
But fear Adonai, and turn from evil.
This will bring health to your body
And give strength to your bones.
Honor Adonai with your wealth
And with the firstfruits of all your income.
Then your granaries will be filled
And your vats overflow with new wine.
My son, don’t despise Adonai’s discipline
Or resent his reproof
For Adonai corrects those he loves
Like a father who delights in his son.
Anonymous once wrote, “Many receive advice, only the wise profit from it.” Proverbs is full of advice – full of do’s and don’ts – and the above verses tell of the profit one will receive if the advice given is followed.
But we live in a new world, where everyone goes there own way with their own interpretation of the advice and guidance given in the Word. They rewrite that advice to a new generation – ‘truth’ is only that which is true for you; God is who or whatever you determine it to be, be true to that; you know all that there is to know deep within you and you don’t need anyone else to tell you what to do or how to solve your problems; health is something you give yourself, join a gym; pay yourself first; discipline yourself to be wealthy and successful, you only have yourself to blame if you don’t succeed at either pursuit – blinded by the deceit of the doctrine of ‘self-entitlement’.
However, the real measure of your success in the next world will consist only of how well you followed God’s advice in this world. Be successful; follow God’s advice.
The Lord is coming!
