At that time Michael
The great prince who protects your people
There will be a time of distress
Such as has not happened
From the beginning of nations until then.
But at that time your people –
Everyone whose name is found written in the book –
Will be delivered.
Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake
Some to everlasting life
Others to shame and everlasting contempt.
Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens
And those who lead many to righteousness
Like the stars for ever and ever.
Like the non-event of Y2K, so to will December 21, 2012, be remembered. It’s a funny thing that hordes keep looking for signs of the end-of-the-world and yet they do nothing to change their ways, hearts and minds, having no fear of God, which is who they will have to face once things are done and dusted. But even this is addressed in Daniel:
“… the words are closed up and sealed until the time of the end. Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand” (Dan 12:9-10)
Perhaps the wicked hordes are so depressed at the state of the world they want it wiped clean, so that they who remain after the cleansing can start again in a brave new world without what they perceive to be today’s overwhelming garbage (politics, taxation and debt, wars, the ever-increasing-demanding poor, STD epidemics and pandemics) of which they don’t count themselves as responsible for helping to produce. And of course, in a post-apocalyptic world they would not tolerate any veneration of God, who ultimately they blame for everything even though they neither believe nor acknowledge Him. After all it was those who did believe and acknowledge Him and strove to live by His code for living a holy life before Him, who made their wickedness all the more apparent. Definitely, no God-botherers would be tolerated in the new world they long for.
No matter when the events written about in Daniel occur, the time is short – too short for the wicked; and too short for those who don’t want to see anyone perish without knowing the love and forgiveness of God. What are you doing with the time left?
The Lord is coming!
