… you, who through faith
Are shielded by God’s power
Until the coming of the salvation
That is ready to be revealed in the last time. …
Live such good lives among the pagans
That, though they accuse you of doing wrong
They may see your good deeds
And glorify God on the day he visits us. …
The end of all things is near.
Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled
So that you can pray.
Above all, love each other deeply . . . .
-1 Peter 1:4b-5; 2:12; 4:7-8a
The voice of Peter rings true as one who saw Yeshua leave this earth, and believed in His imminent return. His voice also tells us clearly who he equated Yeshua with – God. None of the complexities of Paul are found in Peter; his message is simple: Keep your eye on the sky, live a self-controlled life dedicated to loving, prayer, and doing good deeds until Yeshua returns. Stop worrying about or looking for complexity when it comes to what is required of you – keep simple what was left to you to simply do.
If you don’t understand anything else being discussed in and about the bible, don’t despair. Hang onto the simplest message from the humblest of fishermen: Turn, live a self-controlled life dedicated to loving, prayer, and doing good deeds until Yeshua returns – keep your eye on the sky.
The Lord is coming!
