Thus said God the Lord,
Who created the heavens and stretched them out,
Who spread out the earth and what it brings forth,
Who gave breath to the people upon it
And life to those who walk thereon:
I the Lord, in My grace, have summoned you,
And I have grasped you by the hand.
I created you, and appointed you
A covenant people, a light of the nations –
Opening eyes deprived of light,
Rescuing prisoners from confinement,
From the dungeon those who sit in darkness.
I am the Lord, that is My name;
I will not yield My glory to another,
Nor My renown to idols.
Freedom – from darkness; from faith in nothing to faith in the Lord; from something that can do nothing for you to Someone who can do anything for you. This freedom came to the world through the ‘covenant people’ – through Israel. Imagine a world without Israel and you are left with a world of darkness in darkness. It is said that those who planned and succeeded in murdering the Roman Emperor Caesar only forgot one thing, what to do once he was dead, so that in the immediate aftermath there was sheer panic and total disarray among the treacherous as well as the people of Rome. God is Spirit and Light and His being resides with Israel – and always will.
The Lord is coming!
