… prepare your minds for action
Set your hope fully on the grace
To be given you
When Jesus Christ [Yeshua Ha’Mashiach]
Is revealed. …
Through him you believe in God
Who raised him from the dead
And glorified him
And so your faith and hope
Are in God.
-1 Peter 1:13; 21
Jews and Christians have at least one major thing in common – they believe in God. Jews came to believe in Him through Abraham; Christians came to believe in Him through Yeshua Ha’Mashiach. Both believe in One Creator, One Father over all. Perhaps their perspective differs slightly – Jews walk out holiness by trying to honour God’s law; Christians try to obey the leading of God’s Holy Spirit to walk in holiness. However imperfectly, both serve God.
Of course, not everyone sees things this way. But nevertheless both were called:
Although the whole earth is mine
You will be for me a kingdom of priests
And a holy nation.
But you are a chosen people
A royal priesthood
A holy nation
A people belonging to God
That you may declare
The praises of him
Who called you out of darkness
Into his wonderful light.
Once you were not a people
But now you are the people of God
Once you had not received mercy
But now you have received mercy.
-1 Peter 2:9-10
So all are called into the Kingdom of God – no one is excluded – to obey, serve and glorify God. Can’t keep the law? Don’t always obey the leading of the Holy Spirit? There is grace enough for you. Believe in God – He has said He has forgiven you – believe in God.
Perhaps ‘God’ is not your cup of tea? Perhaps you never knew that He was actually calling you into His Kingdom? Perhaps you don’t know how much He loves and cares for you and only has your best interests at heart? Perhaps you don’t know that His love carved you on the palm of His hand (Is 49:14-16)? Perhaps you don’t know that God’s grace is available to all? Perhaps you don’t know His love and consolation are just a breath away? Turn and receive God’s forgiveness, consolation and love. Believe in God.
The Lord is coming!
