This is what the Lord says:
And do what is right
For my salvation is close at hand
And my righteousness
Will soon be revealed. …
Have you counted the cost of the Lord’s return? It can be counted in a few ways:
• First, it can be counted in the number of believers who will be killed during ‘the great tribulation’ – “After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language” (Revelation 7:9);
• Second, it can be counted in the number of people deceived/forced into accepting a coming monetary system – “He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark” (Revelation 13:16), and destroyed for doing so – “If anyone worships the beast and his image and receives his mark on the forehead or on the hand, he, too, will drink of the wine of God’s fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. He will be tormented with burning sulphur . . . . And the smoke of their torment rises for ever and ever. There is no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and his image, or for anyone who receives the mark of his name” (Revelation 14:9-10b, 11);
• Third, it can be counted in the blood to be spilled – “blood flowed out of the press, rising as high as the horses’ bridles for a distance of 1600 stadia [about 180 miles/300 kilometres]” (Revelation 14:20);
• Fourth, it can be counted in the number of people that will come against God’s people and the ‘city he loves’ and be destroyed – “In number they are like the sand on the seashore. … But fire came down from heaven and devoured them” (Revelation 20:8b, 9c).
The most striking thing about the numbers of people who will die is that they die for a choice they make – believer’s die because they choose to believe in justice and doing what is right according to God, and look for the Salvation of the Lord and His Righteousness to save them. Non-believers die because they choose to believe that their type of justice is right, and they look to no one but themselves and their self-righteousness as salvation.
Non-believers will take up arms to murder those who don’t follow their system for humanity’s ‘salvation’, believing themselves to be doing the world a favour by killing those who look to God for their salvation. Believers will lay down their lives trusting in God alone as their salvation. Everyone will have to choose where they stand at some point. Those days will call for great courage from those who believe in Yeshua Ha’Mashiach.
But these days call for those who have already made their choice to count the true cost of ‘Maranatha’, and begin to ‘harvest’ in earnest as well as pray for more ‘harvesters’.
The Lord is coming!
