Next I saw a great white throne
And the One sitting on it.
And I saw the dead
Both great and small,
Standing in front of the throne.
Books were opened;
And another book was opened,
The Book of Life;
And the dead were judged
From what was written in the books,
According to what they had done.
Today’s media have nothing on the real ‘dirt’ in peoples’ lives, although they think they do. While they reveal the details of scandal after scandal, they don’t really know the details behind why so-and-so did such-and such; they only see the fruit of their actions. God knows and sees the heart and mind behind the actions of everyone. Should God judge everyone solely on their actions no doubt all would be condemned, for who of us has not sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God? However, following on the end of the passage, it reads: “Anyone whose name was not found written in the Book of Life was hurled into the lake of fire” (Rev: 20:15). It does not read that everyone was hurled into the ‘lake of fire’.
God judges the motives of the heart behind each action – if this were not so the passage would indeed read: Everyone was hurled into the ‘lake of fire’. Perhaps your ‘actions’ in life warrant that you should be the headliner in today’s tabloid news – perhaps you are living with a secret about a past action that you hope no one ever finds out about. Be sure that God knows and sees all. He offers you a way to enter the Book of Life today – turn, repent, and be lifted out of the mire of shame by God. Let God heal you and show you a path you may tread that will lead you out of the ‘books’ and into the Book of Life – His Life.
The Lord is coming!
