See, I myself will judge
Between the fat sheep
And the lean sheep.
Because you shove with flank and shoulder
Butting all the weak sheep with your horns
Until you have driven them away
I will save my flock
And they will no longer be plundered
I will judge between one sheep and another. …
You my sheep, the sheep of my pasture
Are people, and I am your God
Declares the Sovereign Lord.
-Ezekiel 34:20b-22, 31
A lot of talk about end times and the coming judgment of the wicked assumes that all is well within the House of God. However, judgment begins first with the family of God (1 Peter 4:17). Why are so many sheep are outside of the pen? Who drove them away? Did your fatness overwhelm them? Do you keep your ‘prosperity’ to yourselves, blaming the lean sheep for being lean? The importance of your own fatness means nothing if even one lean sheep leaves the fold.
Hey fatty! Move over! Make room for the lean sheep so that they can grow as well. Share your fat with the lean. “All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had” (Act 4:32).
The Lord is coming!
